We are honoured to have received the newly established JMU Communicator Award for our Science Pub format!
The SciCom-Café team was awarded the prize last week at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg’s annual “Professorium”. Our first project, in 2025, was the Science Pub, which we organized with a team of eight, including many PhD students, at the Moritz Bar. We were able to fund it thanks to the science communication grant of the University`s press department. Young researchers from all kinds of fields (biology, astrophysics, medical physics, linguistics, psychology, and more) shared what they were working on. The bar was packed, exciting conversations were happening everywhere, and the atmosphere was simply amazing.
Many other great projects were nominated for the award: a fantastic sign of how much is growing in Würzburg in terms of science communication.
